Le Dernier Jour

It's March! It's our last day in Paris! Predictably, it feels sad and strange. Our suitcases have been sitting out for a couple of days, gradually being added to (Mama, I've been strategically washing our clothes so we'll return with an almost entirely clean wardrobe!). It's odd to think we'll be back at work on Monday (our second wedding anniversary!) and that life will carry on as normal. That said, I am very much looking forward to seeing Sushi (and human friends) again!

This has been a fun and sociable last week. Patrick's best friend from work, Noor, secretly arranged with me to come out for a day trip on Tuesday, which was lovely, and Patrick was suitably surprised! We'd been in surreptitious correspondence for weeks sorting out practicalities, and he had absolutely no idea. It was perfect weather (although equally an alarming reminder of the effects of climate change) so we had an excellent pancake brunch, then Patrick and Noor went for a walk to Berthillon for an ice cream on Île Saint-Louis via Place des Vosges and Notre-Dame, before meeting up with me again for more sunshine and sparkling wine at Glou.

Glou!
On Wednesday we met up again with my Parisian friend, Claire, for a quick coffee/cake/goodbye - it was great to see her again. That evening we had also been invited to supper at our Australian classmate Theo's flat, with our other favourite couple from school, Katrina and Jake (also Australian). It's always interesting to see where people live; but especially fascinating in Paris when space is so limited and buildings so old and rickety. Theo and his girlfriend live very happily in a 27m square flat, which they'd decorated nicely in a way that made it feel spacious and liveable-in. We had a really lovely evening; we'll miss our pals.

The main event on Thursday (I feel) was my haircut! Patrick waited very patiently for the two hours it took to have my hair chopped, dyed, washed and dried!

Hi.

We went straight from the salon to school for the end-of-month pique-nique, to say hello again and goodbye to all of our friends and our wonderful teachers.

We celebrated our second wedding anniversary prematurely on Thursday evening by returning to Jaja, our favourite place, for a delish supper. Here is my new hair!:

Dressed up!

And that's it, really! We've still got a bit of packing to do. We spent this morning walking around our neighbourhood, stopping off for a hot chocolate, and buying some last minute bits and pieces for tomorrow.

I will end this final blog post with a picture taken just now of the view from our apartment, almost identical to the first photo I put on this blog in early January - same rooftops, same overcast weather (but about 10 degrees warmer!) - but this time at the beginning of spring. This trip has really, really done us good.

Thank you very much for reading and for all of your nice comments! See you soon. xxx
